What Is In-Home Cooking and How Does It Work?

Discover how in-home cooking works. A professional cook prepares fresh meals in your kitchen, helping busy families, NDIS participants, older Australians and people recoverng from injury.

What Happens During an In-Home Cooking Visit?

Many people have heard of meal delivery services, but in-home cooking is a little different.

With an in-home cooking service, a professional cook comes to your home, prepares meals in your own kitchen using your ingredients, and leaves your fridge and freezer stocked with fresh, ready-to-enjoy meals. It's a practical solution for busy families, NDIS participants, Older Australians, DVA clients and anyone who wants home-cooked meals without the time and effort of shopping, meal planning and cooking.

Here's what typically happens during an in-home cooking visit.

Client Makes a Booking and Chooses a Menu

Clients can choose their meals from our extensive online menu. This includes options for a wide range of dietary requirements and preferences. Simply save the recipes you would like prepared during your appointment or build your menu based on the service you've selected.

You can search for a cook in your area by entering your postcode or browsing available cooks. Once you've found a suitable cook and appointment time, you're ready to book.

Organise the Groceries

Who shops? That's entirely up to you.

Many clients prefer to purchase their own groceries, while others take advantage of our optional shopping service. If you'd rather skip the supermarket, we can arrange grocery shopping through Woolworths Online and have everything delivered ready for your cook.

Your Cook Arrives

Your cook will contact you before the appointment to confirm any final details and ensure they have everything they need. On the day, they'll arrive at your home ready to prepare your selected meals.

Meals are prepared

Your cook will prepare multiple dishes in your kitchen using your ingredients and selected recipes. Depending on the service booked, this may include family meals, freezer-friendly dishes, lunchbox options, sides, sauces or snacks.

Kitchen is cleaned

Once the cooking is complete, your cook will clean the work areas, wash dishes used during the service and leave the kitchen tidy.

Meals are labelled and stored

Meals are packaged into your containers (or containers supplied by us if you've selected that add-on). We provide labels for dishes from our menu, including QR codes that link to storage, freezing and reheating instructions.

Full Cook vs Mini Cook

A Full Cook includes up to five dishes with approximately five serves of each dish, providing around 25 serves in total.

A Mini Cook includes up to three dishes with approximately five serves of each dish, providing around 15 serves in total.

We also offer off-menu cooking, ingredient preparation and other customised services where required.

Optional Add-Ons

To make life even easier, we offer a range of optional add-ons including:

  • Grocery shopping
  • Containers
  • Side dishes
  • Condiment Service
  • Additional serves
  • Custom meal preparation

Who Uses In-Home Cooking Services?

Our clients come from all walks of life.

Some are busy families looking to reduce the stress of weeknight meals. Others are professionals, executive couples, singles, older Australians or people recovering from illness or injury.

We also work with NDIS participants, DVA clients and Aged care customers who require practical support with meal preparation and nutrition.

We also work with professionals across many different sectors who assist with clients for a rang of reasons.

In-Home Cooking vs Meal Delivery

Many families rely on meal delivery services such as Uber Eats when life gets busy. While convenient, ordering takeaway for a family several nights a week can quickly become expensive and often provides only a single meal.

In-home cooking works differently. During a single visit, our cooks prepare multiple dishes in your kitchen, leaving your fridge and freezer stocked with fresh meals ready for the days ahead. A Full Cook can often provide enough dinners to feed a family of five for up to five days, along with leftovers for lunches or busy evenings.
